Lather epoxy resin to any desired hardness and volume with Wilsor Blowing Agent:

By adjusting the amount of Wilsor Blowing Agent, the foam volume and firmness of the final product can be controlled.

* 1% blowing agent on the epoxy mixture doubles the original volume and produces a strong, hard and compact foam.

* 5% blowing agent results in a foam volume of about 5 times the original volume (at free foaming and ± 20°C).

Instructions for use:

  • 1. Mixing ratio of resin:hardener is 2:1 by weight. Determine the desired amount of resin/hardener. Example: froth 150 g of resin/hardener to ± 3 times original volume.
  • 2. Required: 100 g special epoxy resin, 50 g special epoxy hardener, 4.5 g (3%) Wilsor Blowing agent.
  • 3. Mix the blowing agent into the epoxy resin first. It does not mix completely, causing the resin to become cloudy/misty. Mix well until an even cloudiness develops. The mixture will keep for about an hour, but will then de-mix and the blowing agent gradually loses its effect.
  • 4. Add the appropriate amount of hardener (ratio 1:2 by weight). Mix well and stop stirring once it is homogeneous. The mixture begins to slowly foam up and changes from cloudy to white. At 20°C, the mixture is workable for about 5 minutes. After about 10 minutes, the foam begins to harden and reaches its final strength after 24 hours.
  • 5. This epoxy system is fast reacting and can also be used as a repair resin without blowing agent. Be careful with larger volumes: a lot of heat is released. With foam, this heat is distributed, but with compact pouring or use of little blowing agent in large volumes, heat generation must be considered.
