What is DD lacquer?

DD lacquer from De IJssel is a two-component lacquer paint based on polyester. Thanks to this composition, the lacquer is resistant to chemicals and suitable for various substrates such as wood, steel, aluminum, epoxy, polyester and ABS. Even without primer, the lacquer has excellent adhesion and delivers a beautiful color finish. Before use, the two components must be thoroughly mixed, after which a chemical reaction takes place that ensures complete curing. Please note that this lacquer is not suitable for surfaces in continuous contact with water.

The lower the temperature, the longer it will take before you can apply a new coat.

Double Coat polyester DD paint application

DD lacquer can be applied in several ways. The most common method is with a brush or roller, in combination with the Double Coat Brush Thinner. Use oval brushes and short-haired mohair or fine moltoprene rollers.

Another method is to use an air sprayer, which requires more skill. Mix the lacquer with Double Coat Spray Thinner. The pressure during spraying heats up the mixture, which shortens the application time.

Airless spraying is also possible. Please refer to the product data sheet for proper settings and procedure.

Finally, DD paint can be applied with an airmix or aircoat system. Guidelines for this are also available in the product data sheet.
