This tar epoxy does not contain harmful coal tar, but bitumen with similar water-resistant properties and is considered harmless to health.
Application
This tar epoxy is particularly suitable for:
- The underwater hull of wooden, metal and fiberglass boats. After curing, it does not dissolve and does not become sticky with heat. Can be overpainted with antifouling, although antifoulings with high solvent content may affect the epoxy.
- Coating bottom plates of cars, caravans or trailers. Thanks to its epoxy properties, it adheres excellently to most materials.
- Waterproof sealing of gutters or roof lead. Cracks in old roof lead can be easily and permanently filled with tar epoxy.
- Protection of exterior wood, such as posts placed in the ground.
User Manual
- The substrate must be sanded, dust and grease free. Rust and mill scale on steel must be removed.
- Maintain a mixing ratio of 5:1 (by weight). Stir both components well.
- After mixing, the tar epoxy is lumpy and gap-filling. At 20°C the mixture is workable for about 1 hour. If necessary, dilute with benzene, which can also be used to clean tools (before drying).
- Apply with brush or roller.
- Depending on the layer thickness, the product is dust-dry after about 3 hours (at 20°C), after which a second coat can be applied.
- A subsequent coat also adheres well after complete drying, as do most lacquers. Processing is possible from 0°C, although drying is then slower.
